Why Less is More – Or Focusing on the Essentials

The idea of 'Less is More' or 'Focusing on the Essentials' is not new. Especially in the fields of art and design, there is a value placed on reduction. The mantra 'simplify your life' is preached, and the following quote is well-known and popular:

"Perfection is not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away"

(Antoine de Saint-Exupéry).

The business software MOCO focuses on the essentials - as we promise on our website. This refers to the essential processes and necessary functions for a small or medium-sized service provider working on a project basis.

'Less is more' we claim at the same time. But how can that be? With less, I have fewer options, right? So, a software that can do less.

That's true. But did you know that having fewer options can be liberating? Isn't it burdensome to use software with 100 options when you only really need 20?
No one really likes to work with that. Now imagine you have software with 19 functions that you actually need and one feature that you miss. Wouldn't you rather consider how these 5% can still be pragmatically covered?

Reinhold Messner turned the mountaineering world upside down with a similar strategy. Instead of doing what his colleagues did and asking what he needed for the climb, Reinhold asked what he could do without. With less luggage, he needed fewer carriers, the climb was financed more quickly, he was more agile and therefore reached the summit faster. The glory was his because he dared to approach it differently.

That's exactly how we develop MOCO. New functions and processes are constantly questioned for possible reduction and simplification, and existing ones are tried to be simplified without losing their benefit.

Shedding unnecessary weight or not taking it on in the first place brings many advantages to us and our customers.

The software remains lean and can be developed faster and more easily, the forms become shorter, the functions can be displayed more clearly, making the layout more organized and the design clearer. The user benefits directly. He saves time and nerves.

The new lightness from the discarded weight also requires a certain openness from the customer. With MOCO, we suggest processes that lead to a quick successful result in a simple, pragmatic way. That's why we developed from practice from the beginning and still ask ourselves today with every new option we consider implementing, what actual benefit it brings, how often it will be used, and whether we really need it.

Because less is more!
