QR-Invoice – making payments easier for your customers.

Switzerland: QR-Invoice replaces payment slip

The QR-Invoice will be officially introduced as a payment standard in Switzerland on June 30, 2020. It is designed to significantly simplify the payment of invoices. The new type of invoice contains all payment information in the QR code and can be read digitally.
But don't worry: The payment slip will also remain valid for the time being. A longer transition period is planned.

The QR-Invoice can also be activated in MOCO from June 30. Before the official start on June 30, 2020, the QR-Invoice cannot yet be accepted and processed by financial institutions.

Advantages at a glance
  • Simplified issuance, possible throughout Europe and also in euros thanks to IBAN format.
  • Error-free and complete transfer of invoice data.
  • Applicable for digital and paper invoices.
How do I switch to QR-Invoice?
1. Contact your bank to order a QR-IBAN.
2. In the settings under "Invoicing" > "ESR/QR-Invoice" select the QR-Invoice option.
3. Enter the QR-IBAN.

Other countries: QR code (GiroCode) on the invoice

Customers can now simply scan instead of typing
For all other accounts, we have implemented the payment option GiroCode for created invoices at this step. The customer scans the QR code with the banking app and pays quickly, securely, and without errors, as typing is no longer necessary.

Advantages at a glance
  • Simplicity and convenience encourage invoice recipients to pay immediately via mobile banking and at self-service terminals of banks and savings banks.
  • Error-free and complete transfer of invoice data.
  • Applicable for digital and paper invoices.
How do I activate GiroCode?
In the MOCO settings under "Invoicing" > "QR-Code" activate the option and fill in the transfer details.

Why is the reference number not the same as my invoice number?
The self-defined invoice number may contain invalid characters, which is why the reference number instead uses the automatically generated invoice ID.
The reference number is composed as follows: "RF"+ check digit + Invoice ID (Example: RF3567554).

Searching by reference number:
You can search for the reference number in MOCO (global search and "More Options" under "Invoicing").

QR code at the end of the invoice with comparison details

When implementing the GiroCode for German invoices, we initially oriented ourselves on the Swiss standard in terms of positioning and accompanying texts:

Positioning on an extra page in the footer area
This area serves as a payment slip and can be detached for payment. Another advantage is that no letterhead or CI needs to be considered for the extra page.

More security with the data displayed next to the QR code
The QR code cannot be read by the human eye. Therefore, the data contained is always displayed next to the code and can thus be easily matched with the scanned data.
