MOCO + Microsoft Power BI

Automate Custom Evaluations from MOCO

Power BI enables individual and targeted data evaluation and visualization.

The Problem
In an era where the evaluation of company data is fundamental, there is often the following situation: The same report must be manually created in Excel every month. This is monotonous and labor-intensive. The end product is then just a static visualization without any interaction.

The Solution: New Possibilities with Power BI
A few years ago, Microsoft introduced a product that automates exactly these processes and offers the user the possibility of interaction: Microsoft Power BI (BI stands for Business Intelligence). Power BI is part of the Office 365 Suite and is a cloud-based business analytics tool for data preparation and visualization

At its core, Power BI consists of
  • Microsoft Power Query: This service allows you to find and combine data from different sources.
  • Microsoft Powerpivot: The ability to create pivot tables in Excel is used in Power BI to facilitate the design of sophisticated data models.
  • Microsoft Power View: Users create interactive reports with it.

Advantages

Custom reports always up-to-date
The great advantage of Microsoft Power BI is that it can aggregate and update data from various sources. Thus, a report only needs to be created once – the updating of the underlying data is subsequently taken over by the BI reporting tool and the report is always up-to-date. This allows you to save recurring work in your company and employees have the opportunity to focus on more important tasks.

Easy if you have Excel knowledge
Since a large part of the functions originally come from Excel, the business intelligence tool is easy to learn and use.

Cloud-based and therefore platform-independent
Like MOCO, Power BI is cloud-based and access to the Power BI reports is via the browser. This also allows a report to be accessed via a mobile device.

Power BI can fetch data from MOCO via API.

To get the data from MOCO, the REST API must be connected. It is important to note that our interface has a rate limiting. Alternatively, it may be useful to work with XLSX export.
